ABOUT WAYNE

Most about sections espouse what someone has been through, what they have acheived, and what they do. Instead of waffling on, we will put Wayne's life details in a bullet form and then talk about more interesting things.

  • Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia. Has completed some travel both inside and outside Australia.

  • Married in his mid twenties, bought a house and started raising two sons with his wife. That marriage lasted four years. He ended up in a very dark place due to multiple emotionally intense situations in a very short period of time.

  • Started reading, listening to CD's  and attending workshops to try and get answers to what went wrong in his life.

  • Thought he was making progress and tried another relationship that turned out to be very toxic and painful. Attempted marriage to make it work. Not a good idea. Wayne ended that relationship/marriage after eleven years.

  • Started creating dating systems, conflict resolution systems, emotional regulation systems, and other things. Implemented them and after a bumpy start with an improved next relationship that soured due to returning bad habits, he ended that one and fine tuned his efforts.

  • Finally started getting the results he was after, started becoming his authenic self, met a wonderful woman and started creating the life that he always wanted.

Wayne has had a long-held frustration with the general populations inclination to reduce people's lives down to a handful of achievements. Everyone has an interesting story if the right questions are asked. Everyone has "wow" moments if you talk to them long enough.

If we wanted to look at a small number of the defining moments in Wayne's life, it would look quite different to the list above

  • Wayne always felt a little like he didn't belong, that he wasn't part of the family. Then at the age of seventeen, he was in the family shed doing some weight-lifting, and his father came in. He sat down and said that he had something that he needed to tell him. His father then informed him that he and his next sister down were adopted. This was a big blow, however, Wayne realised that his father was still his dad. That started a very exploratory part of Wayne's life to find out where he came from and to find his birth family.

  • Not long after Wayne had started his working life, he was faced with a decision that carved a path for his self-discovery. He was working with a sales company and running one of their divisions, and he was asked by a manager who was planning on opening a branch on the east coast. At around the same time his father informed him that he had lined up a job where he worked that would have provided him with a very comfortable job and income, potentially setting him up for life. He was torn between loyalty and love for his father and the adventure of spreading his wings and travelling across the country. He eventually chose moving across the country. This was where Wayne first started exploring emotions and mindset.

  • Wayne had often felt uncomfortable speaking in front of groups of any size, including family and friends. He eventually decided that he wanted to rectify this and attended Toastmasters to master public speaking. He discovered during these meetings that he had a talent for speaking without notes and impromptu speaking. He was also asked to be a test speaker for a local competition and inadvertently offered to speak in front of well over one hundred people. Despite intense stress and nervousness, he managed to portray an image that had people beleiving that he had been doing public speaking for years.

  • Many years ago, during his second marriage, his then wife had accused him of having something wrong with him and that he needed to see a psychologist. Wayne wondered if there may have been some truth to this and sought out a local professional. During his second session, Wayne had three realisations: 1) He wasn't broken. 2) He didn't need fixing. 3) He was just doing the best he could with the shitty tools that he had. This is where his hammer analogy would have its genesis.

  • From the moment his sons were born, Wayne loved being a father. He doted on his boys, playing with them when he wasn't working, feeding them their dinner, bathing them, reading them stories, putting them to bed and getting up to them during the night. Losing daily access to his sons, especially when they were very young, due to his first wife leaving, was a devastating blow to Wayne. While dealing with the emotional, physcial, financial and mental challenges that came along with this, Wayne had to make a decision. As he only had access every second weekend, he chose to improve his parenting skills to ensure that he passed on the best beliefs, habits and attitudes that he could. This was the genesis of his parenting attitudes.

  • In the early 2000's Wayne had a friend who suggested his attending a men's weekend workshop that her husband was attending. The weeked was hosted by The Mankind Project (MKP) and the weekend involved many different processes, some of which were quite confrontational personally. These processes compelled Wayne to start confronting things in his life that needed to be addressed. Some of these things involved other people, and often were just about himself. This journey progressed to weekly meetings after the weekend, which eventually led to a process completed after his second marriage ended, which changed his perception on a number of things. This was the genesis of his relationship and conflict resolution attitudes.

We all have these moments where our lives change trajectory and ultimately determine who we become. The above are just a smattering of the interactions, conversations, observations, and altercations that have led to Wayne being here. He now has appreciation and gratitude for all of those people who came into his life, whether they were here for a moment, or a number of years or are here still. Whether they came with a "positive" or a "negative" impact, he is glad for all of it.
